The end of Joseph, who lived a turbulent life, was peaceful and beautiful.Even in the face of death, he trusted God and prepared for the future.
1. Life of Forgiveness and Reconciliation
Joseph forgave and cared for his brothers who sold him until the end. It was because he believed in God who changes evil into good without being bound by past wounds. Forgiveness is preparation for a peaceful death.
2. Assurance of God's Care
Joseph bequeathed, "I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid..." He was sure that God would care for his family even after he left. Our future is in God's hands.
3. Hope for the Promised Land
Joseph made them swear to carry his bones up to the land of Canaan. He was the Prime Minister of Egypt, but his heart was always in God's promised land. Saints must long for their heavenly home.
4. Heritage of Faith
Joseph lived to 110 and saw the third generation of his children. He set an example of faith to his descendants and passed on God's promises. The greatest legacy we must leave behind is faith.
