Lazarus's death was not just a sad event. Through it, Jesus revealed God's glory and strengthened the disciples' faith.
< h3 > 1. Jesus Who Called Death SleepWhen Lazarus died, Jesus said, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep." For saints, death is not eternal extinction but a temporary rest waiting for the morning of resurrection.
2. Delay for Faith
Jesus stayed two more days even after hearing Lazarus was sick. This was to let the disciples see the Lord's power to overcome death and believe. Faith to wait for God's timing is needed.
3. The Lord Who is Resurrection and Life
"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die..." The Lord proclaimed hope even in the face of death. Those in Jesus need not fear death.
4. Jesus Who Wept
Jesus wept before Lazarus's tomb. This shows the Lord's love deeply empathizing with human pain. The Lord knows our sorrow and comforts us.
