7 Views on Material Wealth for Saints

John Wesley taught, "Gain all you can, save all you can, give all you can." Here are 7 correct views on material wealth for saints according to the Bible.

1. Trust God

We cannot serve both God and money. Worrying shows a lack of trust in God. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Phil 4:6).

2. Honor God with Wealth

Wealth is not for us to use as we please. We must first honor the Lord with our wealth. Giving the firstfruits is a confession that everything belongs to God (Prov 3:9-10).

3. Do Not Boast of Received Wealth

"Let not the rich boast of their riches" (Jer 9:23). A truly wise person does not boast of their wealth but boasts only of knowing God.

4. Share with a Generous Heart

Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell what he had and give to the poor. It is hard for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God. Our hearts must be focused on God, and possessions handled like a steward.

5. Be Faithful in Given Roles

In the Parable of the Talents, the master praised faithfulness, not the total amount of profit. Using God-given talents and resources wisely and productively is an important aspect of discipleship.

6. Avoid Greed

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil" (1 Tim 6:10). The desire to get rich leads to temptation and a trap. We should be content if we have food and clothing.

7. Care for Others

The rich fool stored up things for himself but was not rich toward God. We must fulfill our moral responsibility to help the poor and care for the needs of others (Prov 28:27).
